Clare Sharp
Group Manager – Legal Group, Department of Home Affairs
Clare is the General Counsel for the Department of Home Affairs, leading the department’s Legal Group in advising on a broad range of migration, citizenship, customs and national security matters. The group also deliver privacy, FOI and records functions. Clare joined the Department of Home Affairs in June 2023, from the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations.
Clare started her career at Ashurst, working on a series of major government outsourcing projects and completing several secondments with the Department of Human Services. Clare then took on several non-legal roles in the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, leading policy and program delivery for Indigenous Australians and in the skills and training portfolios.
